My 25th Birthday

For the first time in...well, ever, I have no definitive birthday plans. The first time I wasn't home for my birthday was two years ago, when I was living in my very first apartment in DC. My boyfriend at the time, Stephen, came over, brought dinner and presents, and we watched Project Runway and...went to bed. It was great. Last year, I was in DC for a conference. My then (and now) ex-boyfriend, Stephen, came to visit me at my hotel room, brought lunch and presents, we watched TV...hung around...and then I went back to the conference.

But this year, I won't be at a conference, I won't be close to DC, and I don't really want to see Stephen. (At all, really. Go figure.) I was planning on going home to Maine for the weekend to see my parents, but then they broke the news: the day after my birthday, they're leaving for Bermuda. I thought about going to Richmond, VA to see Amanda, but I'm actually supposed to go to a conference in VT starting two days after my birthday. So that makes going anywhere kind of impractical.

So I was feeling kind of depressed! I mean, no plans! No nothing! I'm turning 25, and even my parents are busy! Everyone has plans on my birthday but me!

And who should come to my rescue? The Matt! He reads my mind and suggests that on my birthday, he take the day off and we go to Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods and gamble and eat well and pay back the Native Americans. And then the next day, we go to see the Mets at Shea in his special seats. And I'm ready to leave for my adult camp experience by Sunday.

Yeah, this conference is really going to be like camp. Five days in a dorm room at the University of Vermont in Burlington. No TV, shared bathrooms, it's going to be like camp. Goody!

But I digress. Thanks to The Matt, gambling, food, and baseball on my birthday weekend!
