That picture there -- that's not my painting. I had planned to take a picture of my painting, once I was finished with it, and post it. However, due to my utter lack of artistic talent and my difficulty with most things spatial, my first painting didn't even get finished. I had fucked it up to a point that there was really no turning back.
My problem stemmed from not being able to really tell how much paint was on the brush, and how much I needed on the canvas. So the sky for my subdued autumn scene was...bright. Yellow and crimson bright. And then I used too much paint for the background trees, so they looked like foreground trees. So then I couldn't really put in another layer of trees (though I tried and they just looked like more of the same line of trees). At this point, the colors were too bright for an autumn scene, so I thought I'd change it to a winter scene. I added some water for a lake, which didn't really look right, and then when I tried to add some white on top of my trees for frozen, snow covered foliage, it looked...well, there was too much paint. It was all...blobby. So at that point, I decided to stop and cut my losses. The painting wasn't going to get any better, only worse, so I decided to clean up. No easy feat, since I'm a huge klutz. I'd gotten paint all over myself from the process, and now I had to deal with the paint thinner and getting the paint off myself. I managed to get paint thinner on my hands, and even on some other things. Some important electronics had gotten splattered, so I had to spend some time with a paper towel and paint thinner getting all of it off very carefully.
So now I'm scared to eat anything with my hands ever, or light a candle, lest I get poisoned and die or my apartment go up in flames. But I tried something new today, which is a great thing. And even though I suck hardcore now, I'm determined to get better. Determined, dammit!
