es and receding hairlines hit golf balls, the field is getting younger. The under-30 set has finally earned some camera time. This past weekend, the US Open golf tournament was held at Oakmont, and though the winner was a pudgy Argentinean, a lot of face time went to those not A) Tiger (who I fucking hate with the fire of a supernova), or B) old/balding/really old.The superstars of the four day golf extravaganza were Aaron Baddeley, Paul Casey, Justin Rose, Bubba Watson, and Nick Dougherty, to name a few. All are under 30, talented, and very easy on the eyes. Aaron Baddeley had the lead going into the final round, and though he didn't keep it, he got tons of camera time. He wears his golf pants well, and that's something I'd know since most shots of him were from behind. It really was a bit depressing to watch him lose his lead (and his camera time) as the day went on. He had a +11 final round, and you could see in his face that it wasn't the day he'd envisioned.

The real young breakout star of the Open was 30 year old Brit Paul Casey, who had a stellar second round. He played the unforgiving Oakmont course for a 69, one of only a handful of rounds under par for the entire Open. While he's 30 (only two years shy of Phil Mickelson), he has a different aura about him. He looks younger, plays younger, and appears to really have fun. Though his final round was disastrous, it was probably one of the most successful tournaments of his career. His second round performance garnered him a ton of press mentions, front page sports stories, and camera time. It doesn't hurt that he has a winning personality that the camera easily picks up, and that he's completely adorable.
Golf is changing. Tiger is no longer infallible, Phil can't make the cut, and the young guys are picking up where they left off. Granted, there isn't much of an age difference between these guys; it seems to be about attitude, more or less. And hotness. Let's not forget the hotness.
